Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or your favorite variety)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional for a lighter option)

Method

  1. Core and slice the apples into wedges about 1/2 inch thick, leaving the peel on if desired. Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and set aside.
  2. Arrange three shallow bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and panko breadcrumbs mixed with half the cinnamon-sugar blend in the third.
  3. Dredge each apple wedge first in flour, tapping off excess, then dip into the eggs, and finally press into the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and place the coated apple fries in a single layer.
  5. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for about 8 to 10 minutes until golden and crisp, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the fries as soon as they come out of the fryer.
  7. Serve warm with optional caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt for dipping.

Notes

  • For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even crispiness. Leftover apple fries can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes.
